Colorado Springs

Hi, my name is Kari,
I was born and raised in south Florida until 1999, when I decided to move to Colorado with a
friend for a new adventure. After settling in, a local hospital offered to pay for my ultrasound
school in exchange for a two-year work commitment. I accepted and have enjoyed the work
ever since!
Several years ago, my dog became very sick at six months of age and was told he needed an
ultrasound to help diagnosis his condition. Unfortunately, no one in our small town offered this
service. The closest place I could find at the time was in Denver. So, I did some research into
learning how to do veterinary ultrasound so that I could offer this service locally and to nearby
cities. I love animals and knowing I can help in their journey is very rewarding to me.
I live with my husband Jake and our four dogs. We live in Salida Colorado. I have a Frenchie
named Tank, another named Kona and another named Nala. I also have an Old English Bulldog
named Roxy. Both kids are off to college now. My son’s name is Aiden and he attends GCU in
Arizona.  My daughter’s name is Adyson and she attends CMU in Grand Junction Colorado. I
enjoy horses, spending time with my family and traveling.
When driving to my long-distance appointments, I like to listen to podcasts such as dateline.

Hi, my name is Cynthia, (COLORADO SPRINGS)
My husband Steven and I live in Castle Rock, Colorado, but am originally from Lincoln,
Nebraska. I have been a Colorado resident since 2005, spending 6 of those years in Colorado

Springs. We share our home with 22 pets! Two dogs, (Sadie is a Collie and Ava Bell is an
adopted Husky), 4 parrots, 3 lizards, 3 snakes, and 6 turtles and 4 tortoises.
I have cared for many animals over the years by working as a zookeeper, a naturalist and
volunteering at Cheyenne Mountain zoo with many different species. I have traveled the world
volunteering with wildlife as well. But my dream was to work in veterinary medicine, to help
assess the health of animals. It is such a passion of mine.
In my 20’s my first husky was diagnosed with liver disease. I took her to have an ultrasound and
was so intrigued. I went to ultrasound school a few years later, hoping someday to apply that
skill set to animals. I graduated in 2005 and worked in human medicine for many years before
cross training into veterinary medicine. Helping animals was always my greatest dream.
Echocardiograms is one of my professional interests. It is incredible to see an animal's heart
beating right there on the screen, and it is technically challenging. We obtain so much
information that can be helpful in caring for the patient!
With my personal time I rescue and care for pets that require a lot of time. I am an exerciser, a
guitar player, and very much a World Traveler.  Most of our World travels are for wildlife or
nature.  From the jungles of Borneo, the peaks of Patagonia, to the Savannahs of South Africa,
we have seen them all! When in the car driving to appointments I listen to music or podcasts or
call my mom or sister!
