Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh

Hi, my name Katherine, but feel free to call me Kat.
I grew up in Miami, FL. and lived all over Florida, as well as Savannah, GA, the Western
Suburbs of Chicago, and Wheeling, WV., but I call Pittsburgh, PA home now. I live with my
partner, Nick, and my daughter, Kaitlin, 17, who is a Senior in high school. My son, Aiden, 20,
lives in Okinawa, Japan and we have four female cats, Babette, Charn, Yell Bell, and Milky.
When I was in my late teens, I had gallstones that caused horrible pain. It was a sonographer
that finally found the problem and inspired me to go into ultrasound. I started my ultrasound
career in 2006 and worked in human medicine as an ultrasound technician.
I have always loved animals but never thought I would get the opportunity to become a
veterinary sonographer. There are very few job openings. But after working for over 15 years in
human sonography and getting multiple registries, I was able to secure a position to transition
into veterinary sonography and I've never been happier. My favorite part about working in
veterinary medicine is the furry cuddles from my patients!
In my free time I love doing photography, painting, and reading. When in the car driving between
appointments I listen to podcasts.
